Mother-Daughter Kayaking

British Canoeing funded the BSA to help our communities access aquatic activities in their local area. Partnering with Poplar HARCA (a housing association in Tower Hamlets) we hosted kayaking sessions for mothers and daughters.

The Mother-Daughter Kayaking sessions were designed to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for women and girls from low-income areas and diverse communities. This programme aimed to introduce participants to the joy of aquatic sports while fostering a sense of community and empowerment. By offering this opportunity, we hope to encourage more women and girls from diverse backgrounds to engage in outdoor activities and experience the benefits of being out on the water.

The Medway Project

Over a 12 week period, the BSA worked with a group of young boys to expand their understanding of aquatics as part of The Medway Project. The male-focused group received life-saving water safety education, the opportunity to try different water sports and activities, and a careers day focusing on career pathways in the aquatics sector – including a visit to the Speedo and Sky News HQs in London.

Together We Can: Empowered

Together We Can: Empowered focuses on empowering young girls with knowledge of their bodies to help overcome major barriers that impact female participation in aquatics. This bespoke workshop combines the BSA’s Together We Can (™) with sessions on hair, skin and period management; and offers the opportunity to try a variety of water activities in an exclusive safe space.

Family Kayaking

London Borough of Hackney funded the BSA to help members of the community  access aquatic activities in their local area. The Family Kayaking sessions were designed to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for families from low-income areas and diverse communities.

These sessions taught participants valuable water skills, built confidence, and encouraged teamwork. The programme was tailored to be inclusive, supportive, and inspiring for all participants.
