We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics e.g. name and contact details.
  • Special category data i.e. racial or ethnic origin and biometric data, in compliance with Article 9 of the GDPR, with your explicit consent and for legitimate interest.
  • Any personal information that you share with us via email.

 

How we get the personal information and why we have it:
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

● You have contacted us and wish to remain in contact with us.
● You have emailed us expressing interest in our services e.g. subscribing to our newsletter.
● You have registered interest either online or via the website to volunteer with us, or participate in our research.
● You have donated to us via bank transfer.

 

We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

 

● You make a donation to us on the website via PayPal.

We use the information that you have given us in order to remain in contact with you, register your interest and invite you to participate in our research.

With your explicit consent, we may share personal information with third-parties who we conduct our research with.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

(a) Your consent. You are able to withdraw your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting contactus@thebsa.co.uk.

(f) We have a legitimate interest. The purposes of: conducting research, reaching targeted audiences within African, Caribbean and Asian communities.

 

How we store your personal information:

 

Your information is securely stored using modern software that is kept-up-to-date; this includes using encryption.

● We keep your personal data that you give to us by using our services or getting in contact with us, for the duration of the purposes we need to stay in contact with you.
● We keep your personal data for the duration of the research project until we have the results. We will then dispose of your information by erasing all identifiable data from our systems so that it is irrecoverable.
● We keep your special category data for the duration of the research project until we have the results, and for the duration of the purposes we need to stay in contact with you. Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
